On Saturday May 5th, 2018, 25 Sai Young Adults from the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Center of Cooksville held their 10th annual event of Amazing Grace. The theme of this year’s Amazing Grace revolved around the FIFA world cup along with the “Go green” initiative. The event saw the participation of all SSE children, parents, Gurus and volunteers. All participants were divided into the 8 countries that were playing in the 2018 FIFA. The focus was on the children as the event was held to observe Easwaramma Day.

The young adults worked together to plan a value-based fun filled day for all participants. The games included a water game, a bhajan game, a balloon game and an obstacle course. In the water game our main goal was to bring awareness to the children that mother nature’s needs are to be respected and all plants need our help to be watered. In the balloon game we had 100 balloons and the task was to match sub-values to one of the 5 human values. In the bhajan game all the chosen bhajans represented love and unity. In this game the participants learned to spread love by singing Swami’s name. The participants were reminded that Swami’s name will help sustain the plants, animals and trees. The final game was an obstacle course synchronised with the main theme of the world cup. The game brought to the attention of all participants that teamwork was the foundation of success in life as it is in all games.

The goal of all activities was to embody Swami’s message of “Helping hands are holier than lips that pray”. At the end of the day all participants expressed how grateful they were to Mother Earth. The children were able to express unique characteristics of their respectable countries. Their task included making a poster about the myriad facts of their countries’ pollution. They also presented fun facts to help their country improve on certain aspects such as waste reduction. The day ended with children expressing how happy they were to be able to work with SSE children from various groups within the Sai Centre and this allowed them to feel the oneness with everyone.
