Our monthly performance for Residents of Erin Meadow Retirement home was on Aug 26, 2018.

This month we had 2 practices for this performance; however due to the summer holidays and missing members diligent care was taken to maintain the enthusiasm and tempo.  We prepared four bhajans, a story and 4 songs.

On the day of the performance we met at our center to have a practice session before we performed. Both practice sessions went well, and we prepared to perform and entertain everyone even if it was a small group of only 8 children. The goal each month as always is to make sure to fill the hearts of everyone with divine music.

When we arrived at the Retirement Home, the residents were eagerly waiting for the program to start and showed enthusiasm in seating themselves early. The smiling faces and happy hearts transferred loving energy to our children. The evening started with an opening speech followed by opening prayers.  A Ganesh bhajan “Gauri Suthaya” set off the program with and calming energy and sweet anticipation of what was to come. The bhajan “I keep feeling your Love” set the mood and amicable energy in the room. Following this the children presented 2 solo performances on the keyboard. The song performed were “Alive Alive” and “Love one another”. Both these songs brought a zestful energy in the room, especially when the residents joined in to clap and sang with the children. Next, we had one of our young story tellers share the story “The Hidden Treasure” to stress the importance of working hard to achieve our goals. The story was a reminder to our children to not rest on their laurels but work harder before they start the new school year. Next, the children performed two songs as a group. “Give me Oil in my lamp” and “The butterfly” were both energetically performed as a group and filled the halls with positive divine vibrations. We concluded this session with two vibrant bhajans “Shiva Shiva Auspicious Shiva” and “Divine Mother Soham”.

After closing prayers and vote of thanks, the organizers offered the children fruits and ice cream. The children were also given an opportunity to share a few words with the residents of the Retirement Home.  It was an evening that reverberated with the music of love, respect and happy hearts.
