A Heartfelt Call to Action this Heart Month: CPR Training with Brother Harikishore
February the month of Heart Month invites us to reflect on the importance of heart health, not only for ourselves but also for those around us. It’s a time to embrace love, care, and the spirit of giving, making it the perfect opportunity to come together as a community and learn how to save lives.
This year, Brother Harikishore from the Sri Sathya Sai Centre of Cooksville, a certified CPR trainer with Heart and Stroke Canada, extended a generous offer to our Sathya Sai family: a chance to become certified in CPR, learning life-saving skills that could make all the difference in an emergency. His offer was simple yet profound he would volunteer his time to teach us, sharing his knowledge and expertise with all who wished to learn.
The beauty of Brother Harikishore’s gesture was that he was giving us something priceless the confidence and ability to help someone in need. His love for service shone through as he opened his heart to our community, eager to empower us with life-saving skills. He arranged for the training to take place over three hours, a focused session where we could learn CPR techniques in a supportive and caring environment.
With only six participants per class, the sessions were designed to be intimate, allowing each participant the opportunity to learn and practice the life-saving skills with personalized guidance from Brother Harikishore. His warmth and expertise created a space where each participant felt comfortable and confident in their ability to make a difference.
As news of this wonderful opportunity spread, our community responded with overwhelming enthusiasm. Registrants began to sign up from various regions, eager to join the course and learn how to serve their communities. From Sai Centers in Cooksville, York, Mississauga Central, and Agincourt, people were coming together with open hearts, ready to learn and to share the gift of life with others.
From Cooksville, we had 14 registrants, a beautiful testament to the desire within our community to step forward and learn. In York, 1 participant signed up, and from Mississauga Central, 3 participants were eager to join. 2 registrants from Agincourt added their names to the list, and each person brought their own unique energy and excitement to the course.
For Brother Harikishore, this was not just about teaching CPR; it was about fostering the spirit of service and love that Sathya Sai Baba encourages within us all. It was an opportunity for us to become instruments of His divine love, learning how to help others in their most vulnerable moments.
As the days of Heart Month unfolded, we were reminded that true service comes from the heart. It’s not just in the skills we acquire but, in our willingness, to offer our time, our love, and our hands in service to others. This CPR training, while life-saving in its nature, was also a beautiful reminder of the divine calling we all share to uplift, to care, and to serve.
Let this Heart Month be a reminder to each of us that service is a powerful expression of love. May we continue to embrace such opportunities, not only to learn and grow, but to touch lives and bring light to those around us.
Sai Ram, and may our hearts always beat with the rhythm of love, service, and compassion.
