On Sunday December 17th, 2017, SSE students of all ages, young adults, and several adults of the Sai Centre presented a joint Christmas program at the CLSHD Herron Seniors Home. This is the second Christmas program at the senior’s home. The home was introduced to the Sai Centre through a devotee who worked there during her internship as a caregiver. She introduced the Sai Centre and the SSIO to the Activity Director who was happily welcomed the event. On the Sunday prior, several devotees practiced the choir songs, prepared the program and shared it with the devotees and the SSE children, who practiced as a group prior to their visit to the home. On the early and extremely cold afternoon of the 17th, the devotees gathered at the Seniors home dressed in the spirit of Christmas with Santa hats and red and green scarves despite ready to share some warmth. The devotees assembled in the recreational area as the crowd of seniors slowly gathered. At the start of the program, the Choir Director introduced the Sai Centre Centre of St-Hubert to them and presented the program. The devotees sang several traditional Christmas choir songs as well as popular Christmas songs such as Jingle Bells, Silent Night, Gloria in Excelsis Deo, and Feliz Navidad. Young Adults and SSE children also offered readings of Christmas Stories and poems. Several seniors joined in the singing much to the delight of the devotees, while others swayed in appreciation of the music. At the end of the program, the Choir Director thanked all who came to join us and devotees then approached the seniors to personally wish them a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Since the first Christmas program the Sai Centre of St-Hubert is dedicated to continue to find opportunities to serve at the CLSHD Herron Seniors Home. |
