On Monday, May 21st we had planned to commence our reading at 6 am of the Sri Shirdi Sai Satcharitra with a prayer to Lord Ganesha. Devotees took turns reading the various chapters depicting Shirdi Sai Baba’s life while others followed along with the respective copies of their books. It was truly a pleasant and uplifting experience. There were 51 chapters to complete and each chapter descriptively explained how Shirdi Sai Baba led His life. The Satcharitra also provided all devotees an opportunity to absorb the valuable insightful teachings, imparted by Sri Shirdi Sai Baba. Perhaps the three most valuable messages that were taken home were ‘’Allah Malik” (God is King), “Sabka Malik Ek” (One God governs all of us) and how important it is for all devotees to practise “Nishta” (faith) and “Saburi” (patience).

During the reading, devotees had the opportunity to partake of packed light lunches and snacks in order to ensure that everyone maintained their energy levels to continue the reading without having to pause the readings. Thanks to this group effort everyone was able to complete the reading of the Satcharitra by 6 pm.

After completing this continuous reading of the Satcharitra, the customary Shirdi aarathi was played and devotees took turns to perform aarathi for Swami and Shirdi Sai Baba at the altar. The momentous event was concluded at 6:30 pm.

This 12-hour reading of the life, times, and teachings of Shirdi Sai Baba provided a platform for all devotees who read and attended the reading, to come together to share in the glory of our Lord. The experience proved to be truly blissful.

The Cooksville Sai Centre is proud of having followed the National directive and contributed to the world-wide resonance of the reading of the inspirational Sri Shirdi Sai Satcharitra.
