A visit to the Olivier Lodge senior residence home was made on April 29, 2018 by SSE students including Pre-SSE children and young adults along with SSE gurus, coordinators and parents during the regular class hour. The objective was to spend some time with the residents and involve them with some activities of their interest in order to inculcate the values of love, care, and share among the children. One of our Sai Centre members reached out to the residence home and arranged the visit. The Residence’s coordinator shared ideas on appropriate activities that could be conducted according to residents’ interest and comfort. Based on the feedback received, the children volunteered to play musical instruments and sing a few songs. Two students played the flute, while another was on the keyboard, and four other students sang Human Values themed songs as individuals and in groups for the seniors. The students chose songs such as “Love is the Way”, and “Peace, Peace on Earth” and concluded the segment with “Samastha Loka Sukhino Bhavantu” in both Sanskrit and English. The songs were followed by spending some casual time with the residents while sharing some snacks. The gurus and coordinators received very positive feedback from both parents and students as well as the residents of the home. The devotees are looking forward to continue this activity as it provided the students with an opportunity to serve. |
