Sharing, Caring & Knitting for God organized by the Ladies Wing

Swami has taught us all the importance of “Love all Serve all” and Swami has often said that service (Manav Seva) is service to God (Madhava Seva).
In support of Swami’s mission, on the 19th of May 2018, the Ladies wing initiated a Sadhana called “Sharing, Caring and Knitting HIS Love Together”. The goal of this Sadhana was to serve the less fortunate ones through knitting needy items while engaging in Swami’s namasmarana.
Our first session was to meet, greet and take lessons in knitting from three Sisters Annis, Glyn and Jean whose mobility are restricted; however, that did not diminish their eagerness to support the less fortunate. The sisters wanted to share their knitting skills and engage themselves in helping others. With Swami’s blessings, ladies from the Cooksville Sai Centre had a great session of learning and sharing on the 19th. Our sisters on that day cared, shared and started knitting lessons. The sisters Glyn and Annis happily guided the ladies in knitting and booked the use of a party room for our session!
The ladies started the session with three Aum’s and with a prayer led by Annis, “Oh Lord make us truly thankful and ever mindful of the needs of others”. Then sisters Glyn and Annis brought many knitted samples to show us and explained all details about yarn, hooks and other tools.
At the end of the session the ladies served delicious home-made food to all. Sister Annis blessed the food as Swami has always reminded us all to do, “God here above us, God here before us. God here beneath us, God here on our right, God here on our left, God here in the heart of within us, In Jesus name we pray. Amen” The ladies partook of a healthy soulful feast after this session of knotting and crocheting.
Sister Glyn also shared a story of the early pioneers. We all enjoyed our session on that day and sisters Glyn and Annis said that they were happy to make the acquaintance of our Sai sisters. The day served to reinforce one special teaching of Swami, when He said “If you lift a hand to serve, to help, to console, to encourage another man, you are lifting it for God, for God is in every man – Sathyam Sivam Sundaram, Volume 2, N. Kasturi”.
