The purpose of the Career workshop held on February 24th, 2018 was to inspire and guide Groups 3 and 4 SSE children and young adults currently in the first and second year of university.  There were three aspects to the workshop:

1.     In order to inspire and also to provide an opportunity for the SSE children and young adults; four speakers were invited to interact and share their experiences. The four speakers were as follows: The President of Bell Mobility, the Vice President of Sobeys, the Senior Information Management Executive from the city of Cambridge and a doctor from Trillium Health Partners. The children and youth were able to experience first hand their methods to achieve success, the challenges they overcame to achieve success and the important decisions they made to embark on their present careers. The enthusiasm of the speakers drawn from different fields of specialization stoked the academic yearnings and life ambitions in the hearts of the SSE children as well as the youth.

2.     The aim of the workshop was to teach the young minds to channel their individual efforts to connect with fellow devotees, to network within the Sai community and utilize the abundance of wisdom available in the Sai community in choosing a skill-satisfying career path.

3.     The aim of the workshop was also to include the parents and other elders in the future of their children. The workshop aimed to provide the parents with pertinent information on University financing, availability of scholarships and also to respect the choices the children make with their career path and education. The workshop was inclusive of parents but also mindful of the fact that the generation gap may often hinder the success of the choices made by the young minds.

Following this information overload, it was time to debrief and discuss. There were mentoring sessions with selected mentors from the Sai Community. The sessions were held for the parents as well. Perhaps it is most important to reiterate that all mentoring sessions and the Workshop would not have been successful had not our Beloved Swami been remembered and invoked for His abundant Grace and Blessings. All mentoring sessions ended with a relevant message from Swami on the importance of a value-based education and a viable career. SSE children and young adults from various centres in Region 1 actively participated in the Workshop to make it a resounding success.
