The new office bearers of the Ladies Wing took a decision to meet up every 19th day of the month. In February, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to meet with members of the Ladies Wing and also celebrate Family Day, a holiday in Ontario. Consequently, we had special Family day bhajans and prayer for our Sai family. We also utilized the opportunity to get together to sing the glory of our Beloved Swami. Indeed it was a great family day attended by grandparents, parents, children and grandchildren. The coming together of different generations gave a refreshing definition to the meaning of Family Day.

This generational fusion was experienced in the vibrant bhajans sung by children, youth, and parents. The bhajans were followed by soothing Jyoti Meditation orchestrated by our enthusiastic youth. To be led closer to our Swami by our youth was an unforgettable journey.

As an integral part of the prayer one of our esteemed brothers shared an inspiring thought on “Perfection” and reiterated that “everyone is special in one way or another in the family and God uses our imperfections to make His plan of LOVE come true”.

As the Ladies Wing had organized “family day prayer” we undertook the study of the lives of the world’s exemplary women like Mother Theresa. We also played a video on Family Prayer and emphasized the following precepts:

Where does this love begin?

  • In our own family! In our own home!

How does it begin?

  • By Praying together. A Family that prays together stays together.
  • If you stay together you will love one another as God loves each one of you.

The devotees understood that this love is what is missing in the current age and that missing gap has to be filled again by installing Swami as a member of the family. By doing so we will bring prayer into our family and with prayer there will be peace that will come into the house. With peace and love there will be a deepening of the sense of service and with our minds focused on service, and a deepening of our faith, we will be rendering unto Swami what He desires, and once again strengthen the roots of our belonging to our family, our land and our country.

With the Grace of our Beloved Sai Ma, our Swami, our Family prayers ended with an offering of Mahaprasad which was cooked by our SAI family. We offered the food first to Swami, who in His infinite magnanimity made our family day prayer a happy day. It is when we all sat down to eat together we truly realize that a family that prays together, eats together will always stays together”.
