“Melody of Divine Love” – Musical program for Senior’s Home

Published Date: April 15, 2018 , Event Date: March 25, 2018

This month our Melody of Divine Love group children performed on Sunday, March 25, 2018. As this month we were also celebrating Easter, we wanted to make this performance an Easter Special with songs and bhajans to reflect message from Jesus.

Boys were leading this month and few boys worked together on the Skit for this month and they also wrote the introduction and recited the prayers. Bhajans were chosen to reflect message of Lord Jesus and all songs were also reflecting the glory of the sacrifices Lord Jesus made. We were able to squeeze in two practice sessions with the help of one of our dearest Sai family. Both practice sessions were energetic and bought in the team spirit to the next level. This month we learned unity is power. Both sessions were amazingly productive.

On the day of the performance, as the residents just had another session before our session we waited few extra minutes to see all residents come and fill up the hall way. We started the evening by introducing the events lined up followed by prayers and the Ganesh Bhajan, “Gauri Ganesh” a simple bhajan which was beautifully rendered by the children. Following this we performed an energetic bhajan “Father take my hand” requesting Lord Jesus to guide us. After this we sang a melodious bhajan “Neela Megha Shyamala”. Soulfully rendered by twin girls of the group. Next two performances were solo performances with karaoke and keyboard as background instruments. “Give me Oil in my lamp” filled the hall with divine vibrations, singing glory of Lord Jesus. Continuing to sing praises of Jesus, next song was “Jesus bids us shine”. This performance had some residents singing along with the children. Next we had the entertaining song with actions performed by some of the youngest members of our group. This action packed “Ten Bunnies” song was the cutest performance of the day. One grandma who was watching also followed the actions with the children. Next performance was calling God to come back to save the children and the following song was from the album Colonial Cousins “Krishna Nee Begane”, a fusion music of Carnatic with some western music flavors reaching out to God irrespective of religion. This was definitely a crowd pleaser. A lively performance with awesome keyboard background music and soulful singing. Lyrics touched everyone who was listening. Next was the main song for this month “Because – Because he walked with men, I know the way”. We performed like a choir, everyone joined in to spread the message of Jesus. This was truly divine and very powerful. Following this choir, the SSE boys presented a small skit written and directed by them. The message was to “Think before you speak”. Next, we sang two bhajans “Our Jesus Came” and “I keep feeling your love”. Both bhajans with chorus and clapping brought in some great energy to all who were present.

The session came to an end with our centre president’s closing speech and brother Pricely’s encouraging words to the children. We received so many kind words and appreciations from residents, staff and visitors. As always we received treats and juice as token of appreciation.
