Interfaith Unity Walk for Peace & Love

With Swami’s grace and love, the Edmonton Sai Centre participated in the Interfaith Unity Walk for Peace and Love that occurred at the Alberta Legislature on May 24, 2019. Our Center has had affiliations with the Interfaith Center for many years and since 2017 with Bro Jagadeesan’s visit the Interfaith Center has been more open to collaboration with us. The Peace walk was organized by Edmonton Interfaith Centre and our Sai Centre was approached to participate and advise on how to conduct such a walk. The Interfaith Centre chose the theme for the event as ‘There is Only One Religion, the Religion of Love’. It is heartening that an external group chose the words of our Dearest Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba on Unity of Faiths.
Eleven faith groups comprising Aboriginal spirituality, Baha’i, Buddhism, Christianity, Eckankar, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Unitarian Christianity and Church of Scientology were represented, and each faith leader spoke on the oneness and unity as the central teaching in all religions. We are one human family founded in Love.
Sai Centre members were given the opportunity to sing between speeches. About 12 center members sang 4 songs: Love is the way, Love is the only way; There are Many Races; Love All Serve All; and Today we stand together (Walk for Values song). Our songs were well received by the audience who seemed to appreciate the message in the songs. Though it was a rainy day, we had over 100 attendees who came to participate. We proudly displayed our Walk For Values signs with Bhagawan’s messages. The event was covered by both local: Global TV, City TV, Edmonton Journal; and national media CTV.
