Annual Sai Family Retreat: 2019
Regional Family Camp in Southwest Ontario – Amidst a quite glade in Dorchester, Ontario over 150 devotees and volunteers from across Canada’s Region 2 gathered for a weekend family retreat from July 12th – 14th, 2019. Located about 200 km west of Toronto, the retreat grounds was a long journey for the attendees, many of whom departed on Friday afternoon. After the long drive, they were refreshed with a freshly cooked meal and a rousing session of bhajans, which set the tone for the events ahead.
Bhajan Workshop: Sing His Name to Attain Purity and Unity (2020)
On Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 9:00 am, several devotees of Region 2 attended the bhajan workshop held at the Scarborough Sathya Sai Centre. It was a 2.5 hour session filled with dynamic and insightful conversations about Swami’s teachings on bhajans.
Walk For Values 2019
The 17th Annual Walk For Values was held in Toronto, Canada on Sunday May 26, 2019 in the heart of the city at Nathan Phillips Square in front of Toronto City Hall. Under a beautiful blue sky, the opening ceremonies commenced at 10 am with the Canadian National Anthem and the Walk For Values Anthem to a crowd of over 2000 participants standing together in unity to spread the message of the five Human Values of Love, Peace, Truth, Right Conduct, and Non-Violence. The walk called upon fellow Torontonians to share their vision of a world where all are unified by human values.
2018 Holiday Celebrations
Embracing the festive season, the SSE students and devotees of Victoria Park Sai Centre took time for a special ecumenical celebration of the holidays.
Nationwide 108 hours continuous Gayatri Mantra Chanting
General meaning: We meditate on that most adored Supreme Lord, the creator, whose effulgence (divine light) illumines all realms (physical, mental and spiritual). May this divine light illumine our intellect.
SSE and Young Adult Service in Honour of Swami’s Mahasamadhi and Honouring Parents and Elders for Mother Easwaramma Celebrations
As part of Swami’s Samadhi Day observance, Toronto East Sai Centre has always done a Centre wide service project where adults and youth make vegetarian pasta or eggless cake and donate the food to a shelter. This year, the devotees wanted SSE students to also do their own service project. Gurus came up with an idea where all the students had to colour brown paper sandwich bags and write an uplifting message on them. The students decorated the bags with creative and colourful artwork.
Monthly Sandwich Service Activity
Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Toronto East has been doing this Sandwich service activity for the past 22 years on the first Saturday of every month. It was originally started as a personal service activity by a small group of families in 1993 but became a Centre service activity since 1995. Since then, it has grown significantly both in participation and volume. We have about 15-20 families currently making about 400 sandwiches every month.
Annual SSE Christmas Clothing Drive
On November 26, 2017 the group 4 SSE students from Middlefield Sai Centre organized the annual Christmas clothing drive. The students took the needs of the community into consideration and chose the following two charities: The Salvation Army Gateway Men’s shelter and Jessies – The June Callwood Centre for Young Women.
Terry Fox Walk – Middlefield Sai Centre
On Saturday Sept 23, the adults, children and youth from Middlefield Sai Centre organized a Terry Fox Walk event at Featherstone Park.
Seniors’ Day Regional Service Project in Middlefield
On June 10, 2017, the first-ever regional service project that involved service for seniors was held at the Sathya Sai Centre of Middlefield. The day was organized to help seniors feel like they are still apart of the Sai family.
