SSE Christmas Drop
Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Toronto York Service team, in collaboration with the Education wing prepared and delivered 200 gift bags containing various holiday treats to each of the children’s homes.
SSE Virtual Graduation Program
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of change in the world, and it was no different at the Toronto-York Sai Centre. Since the physical centre is temporarily closed to respect the safety of the devotees, SSE quickly improvised and adapted to an alternative online format for the remainder of the year. Despite all the obstacles, through Swami’s grace, the classes were a smashing success.
Easwaramma Day
Through this unprecedented time since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, lots of adaptation were made at many centres to move its activities to an online platform. Although gurus and students had challenges on how to commemorate Easwaramma Day and Aradhana Day in the usual festive manner, the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Toronto-York was able to find a way to overcome it.
SSE ‘Go Green’ Exhibition
On Sunday, April 7, 2019, the Group 4 Girls from the Toronto-York Centre held an exhibition showcasing various ways to become more environmentally friendly and the importance of conscientious recycling; which tied into this year’s theme of “Go Green”.
Lunch Bag Project
Between the months of August 25th and November 23rd, 2018 members from the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Toronto-York collected over 140 lunch bags, reusable water bottles and containers for the school age children at the Women’s Shelter in Brampton. The Ladies Wing has a long-standing volunteer partnership for over ten years with the Salvation Army-Honey Church Family Life Resource Centre in Brampton.
Nationwide 108 hours continuous Gayatri Mantra Chanting
General meaning: We meditate on that most adored Supreme Lord, the creator, whose effulgence (divine light) illumines all realms (physical, mental and spiritual). May this divine light illumine our intellect.
Milliken Park Clean up
On April 21st, 2018, The Sathya Sai Centre of Toronto-York participated in the North Scarborough community clean up at Milliken Park. Alongside other members of the Walk for Values team, myriad community groups and families from the community; devotees had the valuable opportunity to demonstrate the Sathya Sai Centre’s values into action. The clean-up was rigorous and messy as all volunteers walked around the perimeter of the park collecting debris, litter and any other waste lying on the ground.
Career for Success – Career showcase workshop
The purpose of the Career workshop held on February 24th, 2018 was to inspire and guide Groups 3 and 4 SSE children and young adults currently in the first and second year of university.
World Interfaith Harmony Week Celebration: The Promise of inclusion
The weather forecast for February 3rd called for wet flurries and a risky drive on the roads. But the weather patterns in the wet and cold afternoon of February 3rd did very little to rob the hosts and the guests of their intense enthusiasm and sincere passion in celebrating inclusion and interfaith harmony with delightful musical offerings and insightful talks . This significant event was held at the Toronto York Centre in the presence of Swami’s altar.
